June 6, 2015: Psalm 87

Psalm 87

God’s foundation is set on the holy mountains.
The Lord loves Zion’s gates
more than all of Jacob’s houses combined.
Glorious things are said about you,
    the city of God! Selah
I count Rahab and Babel among those who know me;
also Philistia and Tyre, along with Cush—
each of these was born there.
And of Zion it is said:
“Each person was born in it,
but the one who will establish it is the Most High.”
The Lord makes a record as he registers the peoples:
“Each one was born there.” Selah
And while they dance, people sing:
“The source of my life comes from you.”

 Reflection:

One time in college two of my friends and I took a road trip through New Mexico and Arizona.  Our destination was the Grand Canyon. We were camping out on the way.  The trip created some wonderful memories.  We woke up and traveled to see the Grand Canyon early in the morning.  I remember seeing all of the shades of the rocks in the canyon. The beauty the splendor.  We were left feeling like something majestic had just happened.  Everything about that moment was glorious.  That was a moment that I remembered everything comes from God.  Only that kind of beauty could happen through God's creating.  Verse 7 reminds us that "The source of my life comes from you."   Our life is created through God.  That also should leave us feeling like the most we are in the midst of something majestic constantly.

Reflection Questions:
Morning:  When have you seen something majestic occur?

Afternoon: How have you reacted when you have seen God's creation?

Evening; How would your world change if you treated everyone you met as if they were the most wonderful and beautiful creation of God ever?
